The singer got his shot to replace another singer for a somewhat successful band at the time. The manager didn’t get along with the current singer (He chose to keep his own manager). The band manager came across a tape and loved the voice. In order to get him in the band, he was introduced as a cousin of a Portuguese roadie. He was to be an apprentice. One night on tour while the current singer stepped away the manager put his apprentice up to rehearse with the band and well the rest is history. Name the band and it’s singer and the vocalist who replaced him.

This week’s Rockucation question is:
This former drummer, teacher and music store owner eventually created something based on a conversation with Pete Townsend of The Who. Townsend wanted something louder than what he was using. The American products didn’t have anything of that caliber either. The drummer wanted something cheaper than the American ones and none were being made in England, where he lived. He finished the product and Townsend put his guitar through it on his first show with it. Eventual Jimi Hendrix and Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple at the time), became fans and soon many in England took it on. Who was the drummer/teacher/store owner and what did he create?
