Vintage Trouble has released a new single from what they are calling the Quarantine Session. No word if the song will make it on a an album to not.The new single is Outside In. The band states the song is about dealing with the mental health effects of isolation during this time of social distance. All proceeds of the song will go to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255).
This song is just what I needed to hear, both from a music perspective and lyrically. Ty Taylor sings with such emotion and at times rage that it reflects what I have been feeling through out this pandemic. Richard Danielson’s drumming sets the right tone and accents right where it needs to and that helps you feel the words. Rick Barrio Dill bass lines deliver the impact to ensure you understand what’s being said. Nalle Colt’s guitar playing and especially the solo highlight the mood of the song. I don’t usually breakdown a track like this but I feel this is something I should do in this case. I feel the band has such a message in this that it took the time to record it the way they did. I think it’s brilliant.
I think the lyrics capture what many of us are going through. The opening verse;
“Without a moment’s warning, morning, night to morning I am doing time Unsure of what I did or even if I did commit a single crime Won’t someone say what I did wrong? At least won’t you tell me how long? This got me walking ‘round in circles talking like a crazy mutha fuck And trying to picture what and who in life would bring me to this kind of luck Hell, my patience ain’t doing so well I’m losing control of myself”
Really displays a visual of emotions and questions that I’m sure most have felt or asked. You can also see this in the video for the single. It’s in black and white which sets up the vibe and you see the boys playing from each of their homes in unison with the song. Perfect. You can check it out below.
