U2 will be releasing their 20th anniversary deluxe set for their album in 2000 titled “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” on October 30th. You can pre-order it here. Levitate is the second single but the first unreleased one from it. I’m not sure why this one didn’t make that record at the time, I think it’s better than a couple on the album. I have to admit that the hero in this song is drummer Larry Mullen Jr.’s work. It pulls you in and keeps it interesting.
There is some different things going on musically on this one. The one that I really like is near the end of the song, after the chorus where Bono starts singing “Life Me Up” is something special. I don’t now why but it resonates with me. The song is refreshing as a whole package, especially now. The video is a lyric with black and white images of various landscapes. Outside of the lyrics the video doesn’t add anything to the song. Check it out below.
