The Rolling Stones will be releasing a new I’ve album on May 13th tiled “Live At 1977 El Mocambo”. You can pre-order it here. The live album is from their legendary 300 seat two night performance in secret in Toronto from 1977. They billed it as contest on radio to see April Wine. They ended up being the opening act.Fans have been wanting the official release of this for years. Ahead of its release we get It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll (But I Like It) as the lead single.
You are in for a real treat, as you are going back 45 years and get their most solid lineup as a band. You get the raw energy and club atmosphere. Just imagine what that was like, what an intimate setting. This version of the song is a bit more uptempo and I would even add it has more a 1950’s vibe to it the way Ian Stewart’s piano comes though. To me it’s just magical listening to this. I can’t wait to hear the whole show properly. The one disappointment here is there is no footage of .the performance with the song. Check it out below.
