I have often been asked what one should have in their record collection. The “must haves” as it were. Below you will see my list. Understand this is only studio albums, not compilations, greatest hits, best of’s, live or box sets. These are just studio releases by the artists/bands themselves. The other point that I am going to state is that these aren’t necessarily my favorite albums by the artist or band. Instead, there are ones I feel that represent them the best or I am most familiar with. Stating that, there is no right or wrong answer, just an opinion. I believe having these records in your collection will make you well rounded and able to have a good core with which to branch off. They are in alphabetical order, not by what I think is the best order. This was painstaking for me to put together, there are so many that deserve to be here. But I finally broke down and did it and will stick with this list. I look forward to the discussion this will cause. Here they are:
1: AC/DC Back In Black 2: Aerosmith Toys In The Attic 3: Bad Company Bad Company 4: The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band 5: Black Sabbath Paranoid 6: Boston Boston 7: Bruce Springsteen The River 8: Deep Purple Machine Head 9: The Eagles Hotel California 10: Fleetwood Mac Rumors 11: Grateful Dead American Beauty 12: Guns And Roses Appetite For Destruction 13: Heart Dreamboat Annie 14 Iron Maiden Piece Of Mind 15: Jeff Beck Truth 16: Judas Priest British Steel 17: KISS Destroyer 18: Led Zeppelin 4 (ZOSO) 19: Pearl Jam 10 20: Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon 21: The Rolling Stones Beggar’s Banquet 22: Rush 2112 23: U2 Joshua Tree 24: Van Halen Van Halen 25: The Who Who’s Next
