The Beach Boys will be releasing a new box set titled “Sail On Sailor – 1972”. It will be released on December 2nd and you can pre-order it here. The band has released an previously unheard track that was recorded for their 1972 album “Holland”, called Carry Me Home. A song was written by the late drummer Dennis Wilson. The song is about a soldier that is dying in the Vietnam War. A very heavy topic for the time and very political. Something the band rarely touched in any way. But you can see this was emotional number for the group. The song is a far cry from surfing songs they are known for. This song once not starts really gets your attention and you want to journey through it. There isa point where you think the song ends but it’s a pause that brings in the dramatic effect that they were looking for. I have to say I was truly surprised by this one and really pleased with it as well. We get a stream of the song over the cover of the box set. It’s unfortunate because I would have loved to seen them ion the studio for this. Check it out below.
