The Band Release “The Weight’ Live From 1971!

The Band will be releasing the 50th anniversary deluxe edition of their 1970 album “Stage Fright. It comes out on February 12th. You can pre-order it here. Ahead of it’s release they give us a live version of their 1968 classic hit “The Weight” from their debut album “Music From Big Pink”. The performance is from June 1971 at the Royal Albert Hall.

Once again I feel fortunate that we get these releases that capture a special time and place. Everyone knows the song, it has stood the test of time and well there isn’t anything I can add about the song itself. But this is a gem as it is live, flaws and all, but man to hear those harmonies, now that’s awesome. Unfortunately, there is no video, just a stream of the track. Check it out below.
