In case you were wondering, I have been waiting for this to be released, impatiently I might add. Let’s start off by saying it was worth the wait.  Mainly I am excited about the collaboration of Slash and Myles Kennedy together on a full album. This record also has a feel of a unit or a band, instead of just a solo project by Slash and trust me that makes a difference. Listening to this album proves to me rock isn’t dead as so many claim. For one thing I can’t stop listening to it.

Let’s start off with the range of music and vocals that are performed, showing the diversity of why Slash is a legend and why Myles is about to become one. Let’s get the obvious out of the way, you will hear the Guns and Roses sound and even the Alter Bridge influence, even the Velvet Revolver edge on some of the tracks, but that’s a good thing. How could it not be?

There are many outstanding tracks on this album; it’s seriously hard to narrow it down to a few.  Standing In The Sun is a awesome track, musically and vocally. I absolutely think is one of the best rock tracks out there.  If he doesn’t play this one live I will be really disappointed. Not For Me is a great example of Slash’s and Myles diversity with vocals and the slow build of this song, just a amazing track to listen to. This song has one of my favorite lyrics: “You can keep your high life in the hills, your cocaine lies and whiskey thrills, I don’t need you anymore, this is not for me” that alone tells the story and is very descriptive. I just love that. Far And Away is something you wouldn’t expect from Slash and then again it fits so well.

I think the most defining track on this record has to be Anastasia, the slow classical guitar, then the driving guitar kicks in and then Myles takes you to another place and the harmonies are outstanding on this. Just as you think this song can do no more, Slash breaks into a solo that you listen to several times just to appreciate what a guitar solo should be. Trust me you will want to listen to that again and again. Then there’s the ending that is fantastic, this song just doesn’t cease to amaze me and I am sure you will feel the same way. Anyone who doubted what Slash can do will have to eat crow after hearing this one. You’re A Lie is a great single and hard edged and definitely in the Slash wheel house.

If you bought the deluxe version or an import of this CD you had two more songs, Carolina and Crazy Life, both very good. Like I said, this record is well worth your hard earned cash. This is by far the best record of the year so far, and we are in May so that says something. After one listen I think you will say Axl Rose who? Scott Weiland, what? Myles, now that’s a singer and mixed with Slash and The Conspirators, it is truly Apocalyptic Love.
