Journey has a new live album coming out on May 19th titled “Journey Through Time”. You can pre-order it here. The live record was recorded on February 9th, 2018 at the Independent in San Francisco, CA. The first thing to point out here is that this isn’t the current lineup. Second, it does not feature current singer Arnel Pineda or keyboardist Johnathan Cain. The line up for this event is;
Line-Up:
Neal Schon - Guitar
Gregg Rolie - Keyboards, Vocals
Marco Mendoza - Bass
Deen Castronovo - Drums, Vocals
John Varn - Keyboards, Vocals
Ahead of the release they have given us Lights. The song first appeared on the band's 1978 album “Infinity”. Now when you har who’s singing this it is amazing how close he sounds like Steven Perry. Drummer Deen Castronovo is just killing these vocals. I admit I was rather surprised and he was playing the drums to boot. I was really happy to see Gregg Rolie back. I do miss him in the band. They do throw the spotlight on Neal Schon during his guitar solo and still sounds fresh as ever. The video really doesn't do much outside of the band playing together on a very tight stage. I didn't think the lighting was that great either. Check it out below.
