Green Day will be releasing a new album on January 19th, 2024, titled "Saviors". You can pre-order a copy here. The lead single is The American Dream Is Killing Me. This uptempo rocker has a very sobering message about what's going on in this country today. It addresses the political divide and what we allow. If the title of the song doesn't make that clear, maybe this verse will;
"Don't want no huddled masses
TikTok and taxes
Under the overpass
Sleepin' in broken glass"
I think that sums it up well. Musically, the song has a rawness and edge about it and I have to say really pulled me in. I think the music and the lyrics bring attention to the political chaos we have happening here in the country. The band has been political in the past, but I think this one takes it to another level in the sense covers everyone. In any event, it will make their fans take stock in what's going on. The video takes place in a zombie setting and I believe that ads value to the song. See if you agree. Check it all out below.
