Emerson, Lake & Palmer Releases “Lucky Man’ Live From 1974!

Emerson, Lake & Palmer just released a live package titled “Out Of This World: Live (1970-1997)”. You can get a copy here. The band has released Lucky Man from their 1970 self titled debut album. The classic song is released live from the California Jam, Ontario Motor Speedway, California, on the 6th of April 1974. This is basically Greg Lake singing over an acoustic guitar. This is just great for me. I always loved his voice and this is one of my favorite songs. For me this is magical. These guys were true poets. I say that because they took a real artistic approach to their writing. As an example in this song, instead of saying the man was shot, they wrote “A bullet came and found him”. Tell me that’s not brilliant. I think that is great wording to paint a picture. Hearing him sing this live with emotion with a crowd of 400,000 people, is just eargasmic. You don’t get a performance clip, but an animated lyric video. Check it out below.
