I think setlists are important. I prefer changing setlists, especially if you are seeing a band on back to back nights or a couple of times on the same tour. It gives you an incentive to see them more than once on the same tour. As far as new material goes (for bands with a long history, not new ones), I don't mind 3 or so off the new record. There are exceptions if it should be more. If a band has 4 singles off of it by the time they get to you, you would want to see them. There are very few albums that I love every track on so I wouldn't want that in my show. As for legacy bands, a lot of them basically play the same set every night with maybe a change of one song or tow over the years. At that point they are on autopilot and I'm not sure that is good for the fans. I would say variety is better than the same ole', same ole'.
